The Spyderco Police model developed in the early 1980s in response to requests from law enforcement officers who wanted a razor that was thin and easy to carry, capable of performing cutting performance superior to others. The result was the Police model, one of the most durable and iconic knives ever produced.

The classic version of the Police model features a satin stainless steel handle with beveled edges for maximum comfort during use. This construction of the handle provides considerable weight and a solid base for the Back Lock locking mechanism of the knife, which features a Boye nozzle to prevent the block from opening involuntarily during use. Its blade is stainless steel VG-10.
