Muela is one of the benchmark companies in artisanal hunting cutlery, in Spain and around the world, and its knives and pocket knives are highly valued for their high quality. Muela are real jewels.
Muela prints the highest quality while preserving in the development of its knives and luxury pocket knives, craft, hunting or tactics, a great artisan component, grabbing appeal to the ancestral Lima and the good work of the expert hands to obtain models of exceptional quality.
Manufacturas Muela produces many of its handles in deer antler, a material also selected, sculpted and adjusted in its factory.
To design and develop the covers for each model, we have a saddlery department, where the skins that become the covers that accompany the different models are designed, cut, sewn and finished. Once this work is done, the knives and pocket knives are sharp, polished, checked and packaged for sale.
That's why we talk about Muela, and we say that the manufacture of their knives and pocket knives brings together the advantages of modern and efficient technology and the know-how and originality of the craftsman.
Being able to sell Muela knives is a source of great pride for Algatec, the satisfaction of selling value.
After more than sixty years of manufacturing knives and pocket knives, Manufacturas Muela is once again offering a wide selection in which you will surely find the most suitable model, whatever your option.
Keeping the classic designs for hunting and general use, combined with noble materials, but also others entirely current with the most modern and unalterable special compounds and coatings, apart from the ancestral forms of our knives, which can also be functional and best practices.
Muela knives are sold on five continents for their incredible quality and know-how! Enviable concepts that take a tangible form in our range of luxury models, in which there are admirable designs enriched with precious materials and exotic woods to become real jewelry weapons, appreciated by collectors around the world.
Main characteristics of the knife
In the characteristics of Muela knives and pocket knives, we make a glossary of concepts and technologies so that by understanding them, you can know the reason for each product and its high quality.
STEELS
420H (high carbon)
420 high carbon steel. Good choice for any use of this steel with good wear resistance, as well as its ease of resharpening.
X50CrMoV15 "MOVA" (1.4116)
A classic in our knives and pocket knives. Excellent combination of molybdenum and vanadium to obtain a steel with excellent hardness and corrosion resistance qualities.
SANDVIK 14C28N
One of the best steels you can find for use in knives. Developed by the prestigious Swedish company Sandvik, it contains nitrogen which gives it excellent resistance to corrosion and high hardness, 58-61 Rockwell.
RWL34
One of the most popular steels. Powder metallurgical steel RWL34 manufactured using the Rapid Solified Powder (RSP) system, which guarantees properties such as incomparable purity and cleanliness without inclusions, an extreme edge and a high retention thereof, as well as very high hardness and toughness with high corrosion resistance
BÖHLER N690
Another Premium steel, BÖHLER N690, whose main characteristic is its cobalt content 1.5%, in addition to carbon 1.07%, chromium 17%, manganese 0.40%, molybdenum 1.10% , 0.40% silicon and 0.10% vanadium. Cobalt provides a very uniform structure inside the steel itself, in addition to excellent edge retention and excellent wear resistance.
DAMASK VG10
The steel worked by hand during the manufacture of the swords of the samurai warriors, these traditional Japanese kitchen knives are composed of a VG10 steel blade high in cobalt and carbon and covered with 7 sheets of stainless steel (410) of each side, resulting in an incredible sheet of 15 Damascus leaves. The VG10 is known as "Super Steel" because it keeps the edge longer than any other type of steel.
STAINLESS STEEL DAMASK
"Damascus Stainless Steel" consists of about 130 layers although it can vary between 90 and 130 depending on the thickness and production. By using two types of powdered metallurgical steel (RWL34 and PMC27) and assembled at 1150 ° C and at a pressure of 1000 atmospheres, a steel with twice the breaking strength is achieved and doubles the resistance to fatigue, ductility and impact resistance; In addition to an exceptional beauty in its engraving.
DAMASK (CARBON STEEL)
"Damascus steel" of 576 sheets forged by hand using ancient techniques.
MATERIALS OFFERED BY MUELA KNIVES
MICARTA
It is a compound of industrial fabric impregnated with a resin and subjected to high pressures and temperatures which creates a material of great hardness and density, unalterable for any extreme use (humidity, wear, sunlight, etc.) .
PRESSED AND STABILIZED WOOD
It is a compound of natural wood (cocobolo, coral, birch.….) Impregnated with resin and sometimes tinted under pressure and temperature, obtains better properties than those of the wood of which it is composed; because they are harder and more water resistant.
PBT + FIBERGLASS
PBT is an engineering polymer with excellent thermal, mechanical, electrical and chemical properties. Its fiberglass reinforcement gives it greater hardness and toughness, therefore great resistance to wear. In addition to having an excellent chemical resistance which makes it almost unalterable to weathering and light, it also has good thermal properties resistant to temperatures exceeding 200º C. It is not toxic and is fully recyclable.
ANODIZED ALUMINUM, MAGNESIUM ALLOY 5083
This technical aluminum combines its lightness with great resistance and ease for the anodizing process, changing the texture of the aluminum and obtaining a harder surface and greater durability of the coloring.
ALPACA
It is a ternary alloy of copper, zinc and nickel with a color and brightness similar to that of silver. Higher proportion of nickel, higher quality and better resistance to corrosive media.
BRASS
It is an alloy of copper and zinc made in ovens at a melting temperature of 980º C.
ZAMAK
Zamak is a zinc alloy with aluminum, magnesium and copper. It has high hardness and tensile strength.
TREATMENT
CRYO-T
With the CRYO-T heat treatment, we managed to go further by subjecting some of our parts to cryogenic temperatures. This generates an internal transformation of the steel structure where the retained austenite is transformed into martensite. All this translates, from a practical point of view, into an increase in the toughness of the knife and in the hardness. We also obtain a more stable steel with a much more homogeneous internal structure.
COATING
TEFLON (PTFE)
PTFE anti-friction coating used on the knife and knife blades. It is practically inert and does not react with other chemical substances, very low coefficient of friction and great impermeability, retaining its quality in a humid environment, resulting in an excellent anti-corrosion treatment and very appreciated for tactical or military use.
