Singing Rock Colt Straight Wire Carabiner
Hot-forged aluminum alloy type B (D-shaped) carabiner with straight wire trigger. It is designed to be used primarily with quickdraws in both classic / sport climbing and ice climbing. It has a closing opening of 22 mm (the minimum required for type B carabiners is 15 mm).
Type B carabiners have a very versatile design. The more asymmetric or closed its shape, the more resistance the carabiner has with the open gate and the better it marks the working direction. In addition to being ideal for use with quickdraws, it is also suitable for use in meetings, triangulations, anchor lines, etc.
Straight gate carabiners make it more difficult for the carabiner to open by rubbing or movement, thus reducing the risk of the carabiner coming off the plate. For this reason, straight gate carabiners are placed on top of quickdraws and curved gate carabiners are placed on the bottom.
The wire trigger of this climbing carabiner, in addition to lightening the weight, reduces the self-opening generated by the vibrations or radial oscillations generated by the rope when stopping a fall or hitting it against the rock. Additionally, the wire trigger is less prone to jamming or freezing, is easier to clean, and provides durability to the carabiner for use as a drop-off carabiner (by eliminating internal spring).
